Net worth or self-worth?
What does it mean to be successful? For years, we’ve been told that success means money, status, and power. That the more we have, the more valuable we are. But is that really true?
In today’s fast-paced, digital world, everything is disposable—possessions, relationships, even knowledge. We scroll, we consume, and we move on. Yet, despite all this access to wealth and achievement, people are more anxious and unfulfilled than ever.
Maybe it’s time to rewrite the definition of success.
Net Worth vs. Self-Worth
The problem with defining success by money and possessions is that it’s never enough. There’s always more to chase. A bigger house. A faster car. More followers, more recognition. But here’s the truth: Your net worth does not define your self-worth.
True success is about
✅ Expressing your uniqueness—sharing your talents, ideas, and creativity.
✅ Contributing beyond yourself—lifting others and making a difference.
✅ Leaving a legacy—not just of wealth, but of impact and inspiration.
Are We Teaching the Wrong Definition of Success?
What are we passing on to our children? Are we teaching them that success is about external approval—likes, brands, and titles?
Children already come into this world with their own gifts and purpose. But instead of nurturing that, we push them into a never-ending race for validation.
The result? A society full of people who appear successful on the outside but feel lost on the inside.
The True Measure of Success
So, how do we redefine success?
- It’s not about what you own—it’s about who you are.
- It’s not about status—it’s about substance.
- It’s not about how much you take—it’s about how much you give.
Success is when you live fully, impact others, and leave the world better than you found it.
